Property Tenancy Officer

The Role / Person
The Assets & Infrastructure Group is on the lookout for a Property Tenancy Officer to help support safe, well-managed housing and property services for our community.
In this role, you will manage the administration of the Council’s leases and tenancies across social housing, commercial properties, and other Council-owned assets. You will maintain accurate records, prepare tenancy and lease documentation, manage applications and waitlists, and support tenant onboarding and vacating processes, working closely with Finance to monitor rent and lease payments.
A key part of the role is supporting the social housing portfolio to achieve high occupancy and positive tenant outcomes. You will build respectful, constructive relationships with tenants, contractors, and Council teams, assist with tenancy matters in line with the Residential Tenancies Act, and coordinate inspections, maintenance, and repairs within approved budgets.
Ideally, you will bring experience in tenancy or property administration, strong organisation and communication skills, and a calm and professional approach to managing sensitive situations. Experience in social housing or working within the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 is an advantage.
