The Role
The Timaru District Council is seeking TWO motivated and skilled individuals for the Spraying Operator/Gardener roles in our newly created team. As a Spraying Operator/Gardener, you will play a key role in keeping our parks and greenspaces safe, clean, and attractive for the community. Your responsibilities will be divided between vegetation control using chemical sprays and supporting gardening and horticultural tasks.
As a Spraying Operator/Gardener, you will manage vegetation control using chemical sprays and equipment, ensuring safe handling, maintenance, and public safety during operations. You’ll monitor and report on plant health, drainage, and surface levels, addressing any problematic areas. The role also involves supporting gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, fertilising, and minor irrigation or tree maintenance, while operating and maintaining powered tools safely.
Previous proven experience in spraying operations and gardening. You also need to have the knowledge of health and safety standards for chemical handling and equipment use. You will need a Growsafe Basic Certificate as a minimum requirement.
