The Organisation
Timaru District Council aims to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of communities, to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of its communities in the present and for the future. With around 400 staff, there are a diverse range of roles from community facing roles to support and technical specialists.
The Role / Person
The Commercial and Strategy group are on the lookout for a Property Social Housing Officer to lead the leasing and management of the Social Housing portfolio for the Timaru District Council.
This includes the operational and capital asset projects in conjunction with the Property Facilities Officer. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of Council property, again liaising and working with the Property Facilities Officer and the ongoing satisfaction of the Council and tenants within the annual budgets.
Working with members of the public and tenants, you will need to be a great communicator, both written and verbal, agile, and have the natural ability to build rapport quickly to engage with our people at all levels.
We’re looking for a person with previous experience in property management including the Residential Tenancies Act, residential property maintenance, an understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, well developed project management skills and previous experience in contract management for residential purposes including the ability to monitor performance measures, complete contracts and undertake audits of the contract works.

This position is a permanent full-time (40 hours per week). We would be open to looking at a flexible working situation to assist those returning to the workforce with reduced hours accordingly. The salary range for this position is $53,931 to $63,448 per annum based on a 40 hour week and depending on experience.
