The Organisation
The Timaru District Council aims to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of communities, to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of its communities in the present and for the future. With around 400 employees, there are a diverse range of roles from community facing to support and technical specialists.
The Role / Person
The Timaru District’s roading and transport infrastructure is forecasted to grow significantly over the next 10 years. We are looking for individuals to coordinate the development, implementation and communication of an Active Transport Plan for our district!
If you are a keen walker or cyclist, an engineer or a successful project manager with a flair for coordinating a number of competing priorities, our ambitious projects need you!
You will work alongside multiple project managers and contractors on active transport initiatives and ensure outstanding project outcomes for our community. You will engage with a range of stakeholders and drive follow-up to ensure success is delivered on time, every time.
You will need to have a critical mind that can monitor and execute on a project plan, contract data, and manage project budget and scope. All this while crafting communication material for multiple audiences to report on and get buy-in for your projects.
This role is suited to an individual with experience in project management and contractor liaison. If you have a background in environmental engineering that would be amazing but not essential.

This is a permanent full-time position offering 40 hours per week. The annual salary is $87,431 to $102,860.
