The Timaru District Council aims to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of communities, to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of its communities in the present and for the future. The Role / Person
Come and join the crew at Claremont who produce NZ’s best tasting water and provide safe drinking to communities across our district.
We are on the lookout for a team player with enthusiasm, who has had some experience with water treatment processes, has a 'can do' attitude, and the drive to learn new skills and concepts. You will assist with the management and operation of Council’s water treatment facilities, including water supply intakes, bulk supply pipelines, storage and water treatment facilities across the Timaru District. Timaru district has some of the most up to date treatment processes and technology.
This role offers fantastic career progression throughout the organisation. Joining us as an operator could see you move into a role as a technician, team leader or even an operations engineer – the opportunities are endless!
We’re looking for an individual who preferably has completed or is working towards a NZ Certificate in Water Treatment (Level 4).
For Trainees we’re looking for an individual who has completed NCEA Level 2 or 3 with Mathematics, holds a current driver’s licence (restricted or full) and is interested in learning about water treatment processes. Additional on-job training is provided, along with other learning and development opportunities. You will also work towards completing the NZ Certificate in Water Treatment (Level 4) - earn while you learn!
Once you learn the ropes of the role, you could join the 24 hour immediate response service. This offers flexibility and rostered days off to ensure a fantastic work-life balance.
The annual salary for this role will be based on relevant skills and experience, plus call out duty allowance.
